Secret Invasion Should Have Been Incredibly Easy To Make
The Seminal Marvel Story Had So Much Potential
I was extremely excited whenSecret Invasionwas herald . While I fuck that as the project was a TV show , it would never have the same huge compass the original comic book narrative had , I was still anticipate to watch a series that would be very different from the usual MCU transportation . Secret Invasionhad a top - notch mold , led by Samuel L. Jackson ’s Nick Fury in his first MCU lead theatrical role , and a story of political intrigue that could place it next to one of my favorite MCU movies , Captain America : The Winter Soldier .
Sadly , all that electric potential was wasted . By the end of its first instalment , Secret Invasionhad already get at me to no end by killing Cobie Smulders ' Maria Hill . The task was the perfect place to finally let her shine in the MCU , with her conversations with Fury in episode one setting the stage for an exploration of their relationship , only for Marvel to kill her unceremoniously . GettingSecret Invasionright should have been easy , with street - degree MCU Hero there , plus Fury slowly come across that people close to him were Skrulls and have to pilot that , building high-pitched wager .
Marvel’sAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D.did a version of that story perfectly with its LMD plot line .

What Went So Wrong With Secret Invasion
Quite A Few Things, To Say The Least
The most interesting aspect ofSecret Invasionshould have been the paranoia , both from the fictional character and the audience , of not knowing who was a Skrull or not . However , the MCU serial publication never delivered on that . Pretty much all ofSecret Invasion ’s Skrull revealswere easy to judge or had small to no impingement . For a show all about a material body - shifting alien race infiltrating Earth to take control of the major planet in mystery , the serial missed out on the machination and tenseness that should have come with that menace .
Secret Invasionended up being a sluggish addition to the MCU ’s long lean of projects , one most people will in all probability never see more than once . The series also discombobulate by most of the goodwill towards it in its finale . Not only was theSecret Invasionseries finale rushed like pretty much all the other Marvel Studios series due to the problems with their model , but the bighearted CGI engagement between Gravik and Emilia Clarke ’s G’iah — where she became the MCU ’s most overpowered hero — attend bad and created a problem for the future in how to handle G’iah .

Secret Invasionwas a story made for the big screen , as it could have thrived as the plot of a contain Avengers movie before Earth ’s Mightiest Heroes teamed up for multiversal risky venture . However , even though it lost a lot by being developed for the small concealment , I believe the show could have been a winner with some needed change . surreptitious Invasion ’s story issues and pace job , with a forgetful runtime and few episodes , are aspect that Marvel can and should correct for its TV series in the future .
