House of the Dragonseason 2 is only making me more upset about the show skipping a massive storyline . AlthoughHouse of the Dragonis based onFire and Blood , the prequel to George R. R. Martin’sA Song of Ice and Firebook series , I am not blind to the fact that exchange to the source material are necessary . translate any book to television or photographic film is insufferable to do with 100 % fidelity , especially with a Bible as dense and narratively unreliable asFire and Blood .
As such , I was not shocked to find thatHouse of the Dragon ’s script changeswere raft when watching season 1 . EvenHouse of the Dragonseason 2 sequence 2 ’s endinginvolving Otto Hightower is somewhat altered , if only in terms of the order of event fromFire and rakehell ’s timeline . That say , this change is minor , yetHouse of the Dragonhas made several in the major class . One illustration of the latter involves an entirely skipped plot line that is crucial to fleshing out two characters , whichHouse of the Dragonseason 2 is make even more bitter .

Rhaenyra & Harwin’s Relationship Is House Of The Dragon’s Biggest Missing Story
Rhaenyra’s Connection To The Father Of Her Children Is Mostly Absent In House Of The Dragon

We were treated to the first teases of their romance before being thrown into the future where the duette has three child , they handle for each other , and Harwin is a good , if secret , male parent . Even more shockingly , the show killed Harwin Strong that very episode .

The Hints Towards Harwin Would Be Better If His House Of The Dragon Story Was Shown
Harwin ’s premature death inHouse of the Dragonseason 1 only made his deficiency of ontogeny even worse . I was disquieted that a character whose introduction was so compelling had so little storyregarding his grandness to Rhaenyra , the show ’s master character . Now , this bitter is only being made worse byHouse of the Dragonseason 2 . Not only are Harwin ’s nipper play major roles in the sophomore time of year , which alone make his absence seizure worse , but references to Harwin highlight his lack of story .
These reference point to Harwin only make his absence more difficult to take , asHouse of the Dragondid not show me any of these things about Harwin …
House of the Dragonseason 2 , installment 2 featured a scene between Jacaerys and Baela , the former Rhaenyra and Harwin ’s old son . Jacaerys , or Jace , is shown reminiscing about his suppose begetter , Laenor Velaryon . Baela then asks about Harwin Strong leading Jace to say that Harwin was gentle and that he loved Jace , Lucerys , and Joffrey . These references to Harwin only make his absence seizure more hard to take , asHouse of the Dragondid not show me any of these thing about Harwin , instead content only to tell me what such an crucial fibre was like .

These credit to Harwin only highlight how little we see of the grapheme before his death . likewise , they provide a stark dividing line to Rhaenyra ’s other kinship . Her connection to Daemon is strained at good , and Laenor ’s intimate orientation saw his wedding to Rhaenyra be romantically wanting . As audience members , we are tell that Harwin ’s connection with Rhaenyra was genuine and full of love , a major deviation from Daemon and Laenor . This is another reason whyHouse of the Dragonskipping over Harwin Strong ’s character electric arc pains me , despite the metre jump ’s requisite for the wider story .
