Spider-Man: No Way Home

Along with Sam Raimi’sSpider - Man 2being consider one of the greatest superhero movies of all time , Doc Ock is considered one of the genre ’s expectant villain . Alfred Molina plays Otto Octavius aka Doc Ock with good luck charm , deterrence , fun , and complexity .

rooter are thrilled Molina will be return to the part for the forthcoming MCU sequelSpider - Man : No Way Home , thanks to the multiverse . And as fan will no doubt be revisitingSpider - Man 2 in planning , they can savor some of Doc Ock ’s best quotes that help make him such a skilful bad guy wire .

“You’ve Stuck Your Webs Into My Business For The Last Time!”

One of the big things about Sam Raimi’sSpider - Manmovies is that he is always completely willing to be at least a little campy . While many superhero motion picture that watch tried to approach the musical style in a grounded or gamey style , Raimi embraces the silliness of the source material .

When Spider - Man and Doc Ock cheek - off , Ock delivers a villain line that feels like it could have been go up directly from the pages of Marvel comics . And yet with Molina ’s earnest carrying into action , it never makes the villain laughable .

“Love Should Never Be A Secret.”

Much like other Spider - Man movies , Spider - Man 2allows Peter to acquire a trammel with Octavius before they become enemies . When Peter go away to speak to the professor for a schoolhouse assignment , Octavius is a helpful mentor figure .

Not only does Octavius bid guidance for Peter ’s studies , but he also give him some advice on Peter ’s complicated honey life , encouraging him to tell Mary Jane how he feels . It is a rare moment of a bad guy speak to his opposer on a personal level and provesDoc Ock is a villain suitable of repurchase .

“Butterfingers.”

When Octavius becomes controlled by his mechanical implements of war , he really leans into being a bad hombre and can be quite evil . In fact , after robbing a camber , Doc Ock practice Aunt May as a hostage which Spider - Man does n’t stand for .

While hang on the side of a construction , Spider - Man taste to convince Doc Ock to hand over Aunt May . Instead , Doc Ock drop her and wryly blame it on " Butterfingers . " While he was charming before his fortuity , Doc Ock proves he can have a lot a fun being the villain .

“You Have A Train To Catch.”

One of the mosticonic moments in theSpider - Mantrilogyis the battle between Spider - Man and Doc Ock on a speeding caravan through New York City . It is one of the best activity sequences in any superhero pic and really establish Doc Ock as a great scoundrel .

Once again , the moving picture benefits from mixing the sincerity of a live - activity motion-picture show with a routine of cartoonish energy . When Doc Ock disables the breaks and makes a pun about Peter catching a train , he perfectly walks that thin telephone circuit between being a fun villain and being way over - the - top .

“That’s Right… The Real Crime Would Be Not To Finish What We Started.”

One of the most best aspects of Raimi ’s translation of Doc Ock is the influence his mechanically skillful arms have over him . When the stroke destroys his inhibitor chip , he begin having conversations with these robotic limbs as if they were real devils on his berm , telling him to do tough thing .

After the chance event , Doc Ock begins talking to the arms for the first time . It is an interesting one - way of life conversation as Doc Ock is win over to continue his project despite its obvious danger . It is especially intriguing when the arm convince him to become a criminal to fund the project .

“Peter Parker? Brilliant But Lazy.”

During the climactic battle inSpider - Man 2 , Spider - Man is able-bodied to knock some sentiency in Doc Ock . He is momentarily shake from the trance he ’s been under and he recognizes Peter . In fact , he remembers Dr. Connors ’s appraisal of the young student as " brilliant but lazy . "

In the midst of Doc Ock nearly put down the entire city , he return back to that wizard wise man and remember Peter as the young student he formed a bond with . Thefirst house trailer forSpider - human : No Way Homehints at Doc Ock commend Peter so it will be interesting to see if there is any of that adherence forget .

“Listen To Me Now!”

Once Peter is able to speak to Octavius , it is vindicated that the skilful part of him is still indoors somewhere . Peter is able to convince Doc Ock that his machine needs to be shut down before it destroys the urban center but then Doc Ock has to convince his arms as well .

It is a defining moment for the character when he regains his agency and is capable to become a hero again . After the mechanical arms had restraint over him for so long , he is able to expend his own willpower to sweep over them and make them take heed to him .

“Find Him. Or I’ll Peel The Flesh Off Her Bones.”

What make Doc Ock such a nifty villain inSpider - Man 2is that , along with whatever sympathy the audience might have for him , he is still able-bodied to be an intimidating baddie . WhenHarry Osborn shit Peter Parkerand institutionalise Doc Ock after him , Doc Ock is able to show just how baleful he can be .

After drop a gondola through a café windowpane , Doc Ock grab Mary Jane . Confronting Peter , he tell him to deliver Spider - Man to him before giving a really terrifying threat to Mary Jane . The mode the mechanically skillful arm snaps after Doc Ock ’s scourge spend a penny it even more memorable .

“I Will Not Die A Monster.”

Even though he is one of Spider - Man ’s greatest enemy in the comics , Spider - Man 2allowsDoc Ock to be a tragical baddie . Not only can he not be completely to blame for his crimes , but he also gets a sacrificial death in the end .

With his machine overload and threaten to consume the city , Doc Ock realise the only way to turn back it is by throwing it into the river . He knows it is an act that will kill him as well , but before he goes down with it , he is determined to pay off himself at all costs .

“The Power Of The Sun In The Palm Of My Hand.”

Doc Ock ’s experimentation to spring up a fusion power twist which becomes his obsession throughout the whole movie . And while Doc Ock does get corrupted by the mechanical arm following an accident , it is clear he has already developed a spot of a god complex due to this work .

As the optical fusion power kicks in , he pronounce " The power of the sun in the medallion of my hand " which becomes a repeated occupation for the fictitious character . It is interesting how the line changes over the course of the movie , starting as promising before becoming maniacal .
